
Wrestler Sushil Kumar India claimed the second medal Beijing Olympics when he won the bronze in the 66 kg freestyle event on Wednesday.
This is India’s second medal in the Beijing Olympics following Abhinav Bindra’s Gold in 10mt Air Rifle. Kumar beat Leonid Spiridonov of Kazakhstan 3:1, with scores of 2-1, 0-1, 1-0 in the three cycles. This is the first time since 1952 Helsinki Olympics as India won two medals in one Olympics.
Dadasaheb Khashaba Jadhav is the last Indian wrestler to win a medal when he won the bronze in 1952.
Earlier, Abhinav Bindra gave India its first gold medal of the Olympics when he won the 10 m Air Rifle.
